Throwback: When Deepika Padukone spoke about her equation with newcomers saying, ‘I would like to believe that I make them feel as comfortable as possible’

With a stellar career of more than 15 years, Deepika Padukone is one of the most successful Indian actors. Her career trajectory is the ideal illustration of an actress who achieved success in the film business. She began by appearing in television commercials, modeling, and background dancing before landing a role in a Kannada movie and then starring alongside Shah Rukh Khan in the major Diwali blockbuster. In her distinguished career, the actress has been in a number of films that have become classics, including Om Shanti Om, Housefull, Chennai Express, Ram Leela, Bajirao Mastani, and Padmaavat. She has also appeared in films that broke new ground, like Chhapaak, Finding Fanny, and Piku.

Earlier at an interview during the promotions of Gehraiyaan, Deepika was questioned about her equation with newcomers. To which the actress replied, “It was certainly something that I was cognizant of, as, at any point, I didn’t want to make any of them feel intimidated or threatened. In fact, I gave Shakun the idea that we all go to Goa earlier and hang out, get to know each other, and keep reading the script, as it is the kind of film where the relationships feel extremely real and organic. I would like to believe that I made them feel as comfortable as possible and not think of me with any preconceived idea of who I am. And to sort of connect with me the person, instead of the idea of me that they might have.”

When asked if there was anything particular she did to make them feel a connection with her, the Padmaavat actress responded that she is not the type of person who enters a film set feeling as though others need to take her seriously because she is an actor with 15 years of expertise. She continued by saying that she didn't have to change who she is in order for them to accept her as she was, she didn't have to.

Currently, Deepika is busy shooting for films as she has many projects in her kitty. She will be next seen in Pathaan opposite Shah Rukh Khan, the film is slated to release on 25 January 2023. The 36-year-old actress also has Project K alongside Prabhas and Siddharth Anand’s Fighter as well.
