Throwback: When Monica Bedi Lost 'Karan Arjun' Alongside Salman - Shah Rukh Khan Due To Rakesh Roshan's Request ‘Come And See Me..’
Recalling the time when Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan's film Karan Arjun offered Monica Bedi the chance to meet Rakesh Roshan, but she declined.

The beloved movie Karan Arjun, starring Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan, has frequently been discussed. In a recent interview, Bollywood actress Monica Bedi, who made her Bollywood debut in Surakshaa with Saif Ali Khan, talked about how Rakesh Roshan caused her to lose ‘Karan Arjun’.

The story begins at a Holi party hosted by filmmaker Subhash Ghai, where Bedi was approached by Rakesh Roshan, who she didn't realize was also a filmmaker in addition to being an actor. She missed out on Karan Arjun suspecting something is amiss even though he had hinted at casting her. Rakhee Gulzar and Mamta Kulkarni played crucial roles in the movie.
Monica Bedi described the incident to Siddharth Kannan, saying, “At Subhash Ghai’s Holi party, Rakesh Roshan walked up to me. I knew he is an actor, I had watched his films. But I didn’t know he is also a director-producer. So, he came to me and did some small talk. He gave me his card and told me, ‘Come and see me tomorrow.’ I was like, why is he calling me over, he is an actor. I tore the card and threw it away. I was like there is something fishy.”
Rakesh Roshan wanted to cast Bedi in the movie, her manager informed her over the phone after the film's casting garnered media attention. “After a few months, my manager asked, ‘Why didn’t you go to meet him? He was making this film called Karan Arjun and wanted you for the role which Mamta Kulkarni played opposite Salman Khan.’”

The actress went on to say that Manoj Kumar later came across her and signed her up for a movie, advising her not to sign anything else while she was working on his. She ended up spending 1.5 years at home without a job because it never saw the light of day.
