Bhoomika Chawla Biography

Bhoomika Chawla is an Indian actress born on August 21, 1978 in New Delhi, India. She hails from an army background, her father Ajit Singh Chawla being a military officer while her mother Bali is a housewife. Her original name is Rachana Chawla.

After completing her schooling from New Delhi, Bhoomika relocated herself to Mumbai where she went forward with a modeling career featuring in advertisements and music videos. Her Pond's Talcum Ad caught the attention of casting directors, who casted her in ZEE TV's famous serial 'Hip Hip Hurray'.

Bhoomika's career graph was climbing upwards from modeling to ad films then from music videos to Television and next was probably venturing into the film industry, which she did with her debut in Telugu film 'Yuvakudu' in the year 2000. She strike success with her second film 'Khushi' which earned her Filmfare Best Actress Award. After doing number of South Indian films, she stepped into Bollywood with 'Tere Naam' opposite superstar Salman Khan. It went on to be the highest grossing film of the year 2003. She continued to work in South Indian films simultaneously working in Hindi cinema with 'Run', 'Dil Ne Jise Apna Kaha', 'Silsiilay', 'Dil Jo Bhi Kahey' and 'Gandhi My Father'. From South Bhoomika's fame took her to work up in North in Bhojpuri and Punjabi language with 'Gangotri' and 'Yaariyan' respectively.

On the personal front, Bhoomika got married to her longtime boyfriend and famous yoga instructor Bharat Thakur in the year 2007 and now the couple has a son.
