The young and charming beauty Genelia D'Souza is a model, actress and host in India. Bollywood and South Indian film industry are her main domains. Genelia was born in a Mangalorean Catholic family in Mumbai on 5 August 1987. Her mother was a director of a reputed MNC, while her father is a senior executive at Tata Consultancy Services. Nigel D'souza works with Bombay Stock Exchange and is the younger brother of Genelia. The baby-faced actress completed her schooling from Apostolic Carmel High School in Bandra. Genelia holds a degree in Management Studies from St. Andrew's College in Bandra. Genelia was also fond of sports while in college. She was a national level football player and a state level athlete.

No need to mention Genelia tied the knot with Bollywood actor Riteish Deshmukh on 3rd February 2012. The marriage ceremony took place following both, Hindu and Catholic traditions on different days.

When Genelia debuted in her first film 'Tujhe Meri Kasam', she finished her degree in college. Though the movie could not perform well at box-office, Genelia was praised for her great performance in the film. Genelia was seen in television commercials of Parker Pen with Amitabh Bachchan. She was also the face for Fair & Lovely advertisement in 2003. In the same year, she performed ad for Cricket World Cup 2003 advertisement. Genelia came into limelight with these two commercials.

In 2003, she also acted in one of the Tamil film named 'Boys'. 'Satyam' was her first Telugu film, in which she debuted in the year 2003. In 2004, Genelia's second Hindi movie released titled 'Masti'.

Genelia received the Telugu Filmfare Award for Best Actress and also Golden Nandi award in the year 2006 for her critically acclaimed performance in blockbuster film 'Bommarillu'. The year 2008 saw Genelia appearing in a romantic flick 'Mr. Medhavi'. The film garnered a great response at box-office. 'Satya In Love' was Genelia's Kannada debut in 2008. The very famous website Rediff.com appreciated Genelia for her role in this film.

In the year 2008, Genelia entered in Bollywood with 'Mere Baap Pehle Aap' achieved poor box-office returns. Her apparent cuteness brought a fresh feel to every role she played in the movie. The young lady appeared in Telugu flick 'Ready'. With so many successful films in her account, Genelia became the leading actress of South Indian film industry.

Genelia showcased her breakthrough and memorable performance in super hit movie 'Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na'. The leading pair of this movie, Genelia D'souza and Imran Khan fetched lots of applause owing to their powerful performances in the film. Genelia played the role of a vibrant college student 'Aditi' in 'Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na'. The movie performed wonderfully at the box-office attaining several positive responses from the viewers. 'Life Partner' was her next film in the year 2009. Fardeen Khan was her co-star in this movie. She received criticism for her role in 'Life Partner'.

A Telugu thriller 'Katha' was her next film in 2009. The film did fairly well at box-office. She was conferred with the Nandi Special Jury Award for her role in 'Katha'. Her next Bollywood film was 'Chance Pe Dance' in the year 2011. The movie performed poorly at the box-office.

In 2011, Genelia stared venturing in Malayalam films. 'Urumi' was her debut movie. For performing the role of Muslim warrior princess in this film, Genelia learned horse riding and using the sword. The same year saw Genelia appearing in action-thriller 'Force' opposite John Abraham. The film accomplished mixed response from critics. 'Velayudham' was Genelia's Tamil flick in 2011, in which she played a journalist. The film was a major hit of 2011 and did commercially well at the box-office.

'Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya' landed in 2012, was the film of Genelia with real-life husband Riteish Deshmukh. No wonder to say the couple shared great on screen chemistry.

The stunning Genelia D'souza was the judge of Gladrags Mega Model and Manhunt 2009 grand finale. The actress did ramp walk for Lakme Fashion Week 2009 alongside Tusshar Kapoor in 2009. At Pantaloons Femina Miss India 2009, Genelia performed with several Bollywood celebs in Mumbai. For HDIL India Couture Week, Genelia was the show-stopper for jewelry designer Farah Khan Ali's show. D'souza began hosting 'Big Switch', a television reality show on UTV Bindaas.

With Bollywood actor Shahid Kapoor, Genelia appeared in television celebrity chat show named 'Tere Mere Beach Mein'. The show was hosted by Farah Khan.

When it comes to brand endorsements, Genelia is not behind at all. The gorgeous actress is seen endorsing grand brands like Fanta, Perk chocolate, Garnier Light, Fastrack, Virgin Mobile India, Margo and Spinz Black Magic Deodorant.

Currently, Genelia is working on projects like 'It's My Life' and 'Hook Ya Crook'.
