Kabir Bedi Biography

Kabir Bedi is an internationally acclaimed Indian actor born on January 16, 1946 in Mumbai. He belongs to a Punjabi Khatri-Sikh family, his father was an author. He went to Sherwood School in Nainital and completed his graduation from St. Stephen's College in Delhi.

Kabir's distinguishing personality assured him a bright future in the glamour industry. He started with Indian theatre and then moved to Hindi films. His cunning smart looks casted him the villainous roles in the films like 'Manzilen Aur Bhi Hein', 'Khoon Bhari Maang', 'Yalgaar', 'Kachche Dhaage', 'Kites' and 'Blue' amongst others. Out of his all Hindi films, he is most popular Akbar Khan's 'Taj Mahal' where he essayed the character role of Emperor Shahjaan. He has also acted in Tamil film titled 'Aravaan'.

International recognition struck Kabir with his memorable role of "Sandokan" in a six-part mini series for European Television and also as cruel "Gobinda" in James Bond film 'Octopussy' he gained fame. He is the only Indian actor to enact in Bond movies till date. He has acted in acclaimed films like 'The Beast of War' and 'Andata Ritorno'; while his worldwide television career includes the name of popular TV shows 'The Bold and The Beautiful', 'Dynasty', 'She Wrote', 'Magnum', 'Knight Riders' and 'Hunter' amongst others.

Kabir's remarkable experience in theatre, television and films has made the voting member of the Screen Actors Guild and the prestigious Academy of Motion Pictures Art and Science, which presents Oscars Awards. In 2010, he received the highest ranking civilian honour of the Italian Republic and was awarded with "Cavaliere" of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic.

On the personal front, Kabir got married three times. His first marriage was with a model turned Odissi dancer Protima Bedi, with whom he has two children- his daughter is actress and columnist Pooja Bedi and son Siddharth who died after committing suicide in 1997. His extramarital affair with actress Parveen Babi resulted in his separation with wife Protima. But this highly flammable relationship didn't last for long. His second marriage was with British-fashion designer Susan Humphreys and with her he has a son Adam Bedi. After his divorce, he married TV and radio presenter Nikki Bedi and in 2005 they parted their ways. Since then, he is live-in relationship with British born Parveen Dusanj.
