Kalki Koechlin Biography

The girl in yellow boots a.k.a. Kalki Koechlin is from a small village of Pondicherry. Her father is Joel Koechlin who is originally French and was a hippy who later settled in India as he loved the country. Her mother Francoise Armandie who was living in Auroville married her father as both are devotees of Sri Aurobindo. After marriage they got settled in Kallattty, near Ooty where Kalki's father established a business.

Kalki finished her schooling from Hebron School in Ooty and then she went to London to study drama and theatre at the University of London. The talented young lady can speak many languages like Tamil, English, French and Hindi. There she joined a theatre company known as Theatre of Relativity and she acted in various plays there. After completing her studies the polyglot decided to shift to Mumbai to try her luck in Hindi films. She got many modeling assignments and she did many television commercials during that period. Then she got shortlisted for the role of Chandramukhi in Anurag Kashyap's film 'Dev D'. She got lots of appreciation for her acting in this film. They both fell in love with each other soon and recently tied a knot in Ooty.

The 'Shaitan' girl never looked back after the success of 'Dev D'. She has delivered splendid acts in many genres of films, and she did a variety of roles in the parallel cinema also. She has received many awards and critical appreciation for her skilled acting in various films like 'Shaitan', 'Dev D', 'That Girl in Yellow Boots' , 'My friend Pinto' , 'Shanghai' etc.

The Indo-French beauty is determined to prove her talent in the tinsel town and hopes to get the opportunity to work in different genres of films. Her future projects are 'Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani' directed by Ayan Mukerji and 'Ek Thi Daayan' directed by Kannan Iyer starring Emraan Hashmi as her opposite.
