Madhur Bhandarkar Biography

Madhur Bhandarkar is one of the talented directors in the Bollywood. He is famous for making realistic films. His films have a slice of life in them. Madhur was born on 26th August 1968 in Mumbai. Before entering onto the Bollywood, he used to work in a video cassette library. He is a school drop out and studied film making through getting access to the movies in the library he worked at. His passion for filmmaking landed him in the Bollywood. At first, he used to work as an assistant to veteran director Ram Gopal Varma. He assisted Varma in Rangeela.

He made his directorial debut with the film 'Trishakti ' in 1999. The film was unsuccessful at the box office. His first success came with his film 'Chandni Bar ' in 2001 starring Tabu and Atul Kulkarni . The film which was based on the life bar dancers got lots of critical accolades. The film won him the national award. Then he made 'Page 3 ' in the year 2005. The film was based on the life celebrities. This film also got a huge success and again won him his second national award. Then in 2006, he made 'Corporate ' based on the corporate work culture. The film starred Bipasha Basu . His next was 'Traffic Signal ' in 2007. This film also won him the national award for the third time.

In the year 2008, he produced and directed the movie 'Fashion'. It was based on the realities of the fashion industry. The movie was very much apprecialted by one and all. Priyanka Chopra and Kangana Ranaut got the national awards for this film. In the year 2009, he made the movie 'Jail' based on the life of prisoners starring Neil Nitin Mukesh . The movie could not do much at the box office. His next was 'Dil toh Bachcha Hai Ji' which was a light romantic comedy. Then he directed 'Heroine' in 2012 starring Kareena Kapoor as a protagonist. The movie was again well received by the critics and the audience as well.

Madhur is married to his girlfriend Renu and they have a daughter named Siddhi. Madhur is a great devotee of Siddhivinayak and visits the Siddhivinayak Temple every Tuesday by walking from his house.
