Payal Rohatgi Biography

She is a self-made model and actress. Payal was born on 9th November, 1980 in Banjara Hills, Hyderabad. The actress is the daughter of Shashank Rohatgi and Veena Rohatgi. Her brother's name is Gaurav Rohatgi. She was raised in Ahmedabad, Gujarat in a well-to-do family. Payal completed her schooling from Udgam School. The brilliant artist holds a degree in computer engineering from Ahmedabad-based L. D. College of Engineering.

Modeling world called up the glamorous Payal by luring her with advertisements for the brands like Nirma, Amul and Nescafe. The actress did very well in those ads. The television commercial of Cadbury Temptation played very important role in catching glances towards the actress. Payal appeared in some music videos, such as 'Silk Route' and Indipop singer KK's album.

The beauty was a contestant of the television reality show, named 'Bigg Boss' aired on Colors channel in 2008. The actress appeared as a celebrity performer and enacted a laughter caricature in 'Comedy Circus - Chinchpokli To China' on Sony TV. In 2010, she was seen in television serial 'Raaz Pichhle Janam Ka' on NDTV Imagine. Payal was a contestant in 'Zor Ka Jhatka' anchored by Shah Rukh Khan. The lady was a part of CID series on Sony TV in the episode, 'Dhoom - Bike Robbers' in the year 2011. In 2012, Payal participated in the reality show 'Survivor India' on Star plus. She was the fifth runner up in the competition, in which almost 70 nations took part. Rohatgi also participated in the show 'Welcome - Baazi Mehmaan Nawazi Ki' on Life OK channel in 2013 and was seen in many episodes of the programme. She was the winner of the show.

The Bollywood journey of Payal Rohatgi commenced after winning the title of Miss Tourism World in the year 2002 in South America. She was the winner beating the contestants from 65 nations. The bold actress also participated in Femina Miss India Contest in 2002. Then, Payal was seen in the ad film of Dabur's Lal Dantmanjan along with Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag. Pradeep Sarkar was the director of this ad film. He again directed one more ad film for Eveready Battery with megastar Amitabh Bachchan.

Payal knocked on the doors of Bollywood and the film 'Yeh Kya Ho Raha Hai' by Harry Baweja opened the door for her. The movie is said to be Hindi version of Hollywood teen-flick 'American Pie'. The stunning heroine then appeared in some other films too, like 'Police Force' (2003), 'Plan' (2003) and 'Rakht' (2004). The actress gained her breakthrough with the movie '36 China Town'. Big stars like Kareena Kapoor, Shahid Kapoor and Paresh Rawal were her co-stars in this film. The glam-doll portrayed an item girl in the critically acclaimed film 'Corporate' (2006).

In the year 2007, Payal acted in the film 'Dhol' by Priyadarshan. It was Percept Picture Company production. The actress was witnessed in the second lead role with Arbaaz Khan. 'Ugly Aur Pagli' was her next movie in 2008 with Ranvir Shorey. She was seen doing a cameo in it. 'Dil Kabaddi' by TV18 was the next release of Payal in 2008, which was also starring Irrfan Khan. Payal essayed the character of aerobics instructor in this movie. The year 2010 saw the actress performing theatre workshops. She made an entry in one of the English play by Vandana Sajnani Khattar, named 'Four Play'. In her recent movie in 2012 titled 'Valentine's Night', she was featured with co-star Sangram Singh. The box-office preferred to remain silent for this movie. Payal got opportunity to work with Bollywood biggies, which assisted her in shaping her career.

The other movies of Payal include 'Chetna' (2005), 'Tauba Tauba' (2004), 'Laila' (2004), 'Heyy Babyy' (2007), 'Mazaa Mazaa' (2005) and 'Men Not Allowed' (2006). Rohatgi was the showstopper for Indore Fashion Week and supported the noble cause - Save the girl child. The actress is working actively for Jeevan Dhara, a Mumbai-based NGO. She also associated herself with one more social cause of alcoholics' and drug addicts' rehabilitation. Payal even had World Anti Drugs Day celebrations with them.

These days Payal is working on her next film 'Black Currency'. It is Shanti Niketan Films production and is directed by Sanjay Sharma. In this, Payal will be seen opposite eminent actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui.
