Pooja Batra Biography

She can be said as all-in one package, as she is an actress, model and ex-Miss India. Pooja was born on 27 October, 1976. Her father, Ravi Batra was an Army Colonel and her mother Neelam Batra was a participant in Miss India competition in the year 1971.

Pooja Batra was a national level winner and won many track and field events. The actress completed her schooling from Kendriya Vidyalaya at Haryana. Pooja has a great sportsperson hidden inside her, as she won 200 and 400 meter dash. Pooja was the student of Fergusson College at Pune. She is the degree holder in Economics. Pooja was the winner of the title Miss Asia Pacific in the year 1993, when she was eighteen years old. Winning the title of Miss India was like a shot to fame for Pooja. After this, Pooja became one of the top supermodels in India and walked the ramp for around 250 Indian and global fashion shows. The damsel performed extensive runway work for various Indian companies like Head & Shoulder, Hallmark Cards, Liril Soap, Parag Saree and Nokia Phones. Then, Pooja preferred to focus on her acting profession.

The year 1997 proved very special for Pooja Batra, as she appeared on the big screen for the very first time in this year. The film 'Virasat' with co-stars Anil Kapoor and Tabu in 1997 opened the doors of Bollywood for Pooja. This movie gained instant stardom to Pooja and also acquired success at box-office. She also received critical acclaim for this one. For the same role, Pooja won the title of Zee Cine Award for the Best Supporting Actress category and attained nomination from Filmfare Awards for Best Supporting Actress. The next release of the actress proved as a super hit at the box-office. Both these movies fuelled her fame among the audience.

Pooja starred in total twenty movies till now including Tamil and Telugu flicks and ascertained herself as a profound actress in the industry. The films like 'Dil Ne Phir Yaad Kiya' (2001), 'Haseena Maan Jaayegi' (1999) and 'Kahin Pyaar Na Ho Jaaye' (2000) were well-memorable amongst them. The other movies of the actress include 'Jodi No.1' (2001), 'Ittefaq' (2001), 'Saazish' (1998), 'Kuch Khatti Kuch Meethi' (2001), 'Farz' (2001), 'Nayak' (2001), 'Talaash' (2002), 'Taj Mahal' (2005), 'Parwana' (2003) and she did a cameo in 'Hum Tum Shabana' (2011). Pooja received nomination for the Best Actress category from Sansui Screen Award for her performance as Queen Noorjehan in the film 'Taj Mahal'.

The talented beauty acted in Malayalam movies and in many of them, she appeared with super stars like Mammootty and Mohanlal. Pooja also acted in two Tamil movies.

The actress was married to Dr. Sonu Ahluwalia, who is a California-based orthopedic surgeon. Reportedly, the divorce talks are going on between the couple.

The generous Pooja doesn't lag behind, when it comes to noble charitable causes, such as AIDS (Mukti Foundation), Bombay Police Department, homeless children and Kashmir war injured soldiers.

At present, the elegant lady is busy in producing a television show titled Styloholics. Pooja Batra commenced her production company named as Glow Bell Inc. Pooja Batra owns her abodes in Los Angeles and Mumbai.
