Indian Michael Jackson, Prabhu Deva is surely the biggest Dance Icon in India. Prabhu Deva is a Choreographer, Actor and Director all in one. He is a two time winner of the National Best Choreographer Award.

Prabhu Deva's real name is Shankupani and was born on 3rd April 1973 in Mysore, Karnataka to Mugur Sundar a popular choreographer of South Indian cinema. Prabhu was raised at Alwerpet, Chennai and took inspiration from his dad. He learned Indian Classical Dancing and later, learned Western Dance too. His brothers are Raju Sunderam and Nagendra Prasad.

He started as a background dancer and went to choreograph in over a hundred movies and still continues. From choreography he promoted himself to acting. Prabhu Deva acted in various Tamil and Hindi movies and a few other language movies too. He gave many hits in Tamil cinema. After acting, Prabhu tried his hands in the direction. He started directing Telugu and Tamil movies in 2005. In 2009, he directed a Hindi movie 'Wanted' a remake of his Tamil hit movie 'Pokiri'. 'Wanted' became a blockbuster with superstar Salman Khan featuring in the movie. His next movie 'Rowdy Rathore' starring Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha too became a commercial success.

Prabhu Deva's most notable dance number in Hindi Films was one with Madhuri Dixit in the movie 'Pukar'. He choreographed for various Hindi movies. He won a National Award and a Filmfare Award for best choreographer for the movie 'Lakshya'. Prabhu Deva is known to give a special appearance in the movies he directs. He was last seen acting in 'ABCD - Any Body Can Dance' directed by choreographer turned director Remo D'souza. The movie was dedicated to dance.

Prabhu's Next directorial venture will be 'Ramaiya Vastavaiya' starring Sonu Sood and Shruti Haasan. Prabhu will also be directing a movie 'Rambo Rajkumar' with Shahid Kapoor and Sonakshi Sinha playing the lead roles.
