Prakash Jha is one of the talented directors in the Indian film industry. He is also a producer and a screenwriter. He mainly makes the films on social and political issues. He is the winner of a national film award for his documentaries like Sonal and Faces After The Storm. He owns the production company known as Prakash Jha Productions and also a mall in Patna known as P&M Mall. He was born on 27th February 1952 in the west Champaran in Bihar. He went to Sainik School Tilaya and Kendriya Vidyalaya. Later he went to Ramjas College to do graduation in Physics but he left it after one year to learn film making. He was married to actress Deepti Naval and the couple adopted a daughter named Disha but they are divorced now.

He started his career by making a documentary known as Under the blue in the year 1975. He is still making many documentaries. All the time in his career he has made the power packed socio-political films. His first feature film was Hip Hip Hurray in 1984. The film had Raj Kiran and Deepti Naval in the lead roles. His next was Damul in 1984, which has won the national film award and the filmfare critics award. Next he directed Parinati in 1986. Till date he has made more than 25 documentaries, 3 television series and 2 television features and 6 feature films.

His noted movies are 'Bandish', 'Mrityudand', 'Dil Kya Kare', 'Rahul', 'Gangaajal', 'Apaharan', 'Dil Dosti etc', 'Khoya Khoya Chand', 'Raajneeti', 'Yeh Saali Zindagi', 'Aarakshan', 'Chakravyuh' etc. Currently he is busy in making the film 'Satyagraha' along with Ajay Devgn , Amitabh Bachchan, Kareena Kapoor etc. He will be directing Raajneeti 2 and Jai Gangaajal in as his future projects.
