R. Madhavan Biography

Maddy R. Madhavan is one of the talented and smart actors in the B-town. He was born on 1st June 1970 in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand . His father Ranganathan was a management executive in Tata Steel and his mother Saroja was a manager with the Bank of India. He has a sister named Devika.

When Maddy was a child, he pursued a dream to be in the Army. But his parents insisted him to take a degree in Electronics. After finishing his degree, the handsome hunk started teaching in communication and public speaking courses and workshops. During one such workshop he came across one girl named Sarita Birjee who was an air hostess. They both fell in love and eventually got married in the year 1999. The couple has one son named Vedant.

Madhavan made his debut in front of the camera through one commercial advertisement for a sandalwood talc brand. The advertisement was done by Santosh Sivan. Santosh then recommended the lady killer guy to the great director Mani Ratnam. He took Madhavan's screen test for his film 'Iruvar'.But the talented actor could not pass the screen test and failed to get the role. Madhavan then concentrated on working in the Television serials. He appeared in 'Benegi Apni Baat','Yeh Kahan Aagaye Hum', 'Yule Love Stories','Ghar Jamai' etc. He made his debut in movies through a film 'Is Raat ki Subah Nahin'.He did a small cameo in that film. He appeared in the lead role for the first time in one Kannada film named as 'Shanti Shanti Shanti'. Mani Ratnam got influenced after seeing Maddy's performance and cast him in his romantic film 'Alaipayuthey'(Tamil). The movie proved as a blockbuster at the box office. And after that, film offers got flooded to Madhavan. Later he acted in numerous Tamil movies named as 'Run','Kannathil Muthamittal','Anbe Sivam' and 'Aayutha Ezuthu' and many more. In these films, Maddy gave a fabulous performance and got lots of accolades, awards and nominations for it. His fan following reached at peak in down south.

Then, the talented actor appeared in the Bollywood for the first time through the remake of his film 'Minnale' . The Hindi remake was called 'Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein' and starred Dia Mirza in the opposite lead. The movie could not do well at the box office but Madhavan's performance was appreciated. Now besides girls from the south, girls from the rest of India too joined Maddy's fan club. The boys loved Maddy's personality as well.

After 'RHTDM', Madhavan starred in many Hindi movies such as 'Rang De Basanti','Mumbai Meri Jaan','Guru','Ramji Londonwaley' etc. His role in 'Rang De Basanti' was very well appreciated by one and all. But his fan club all over India reached at the peak after the cool dude showed his extraordinary performance in the film '3 Idiots'. He got a nomination in the Filmfare awards for best actor in the supporting role category.

Maddy also got the Tamil Nadu state film award as the best actor for his 4 Tamil films. He has also received nominations from other prestigious awards too. The smart and charming guy supports PETA. He was awarded as the 'Cutest Male Vegetarian' by PETA in 2006. And one game company has launched a game for mobile phones in which Maddy is shown as the main character. Besides PETA the generous guy is involved in many humanitarian causes and charity work.

Recently Madhavan was seen in the films like '13B','Sunglass','Teen Patti','Jhootha hi Sahi (Guest appearance)','Call me Dil,'Tanu Weds Manu' and 'Jodi breakers' etc.

The friendly and sweet guy will next be seen in 'I Love NY' along with Sunny Deol and Kangana Ranaut.
