Saif Ali Khan Biography

Saif Ali Khan, also popularly known as 'Chote Nawab' of B-Town. He is famous for his effortless 'Chocolate Boy' charm and for his firm hands on guitar. He was born on 16th August, 1970 in New Delhi, India. He belongs to prestigious royal family of India. His father being the 9th Nawab Of Pataudi, Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, who was also the captain of Indian cricket team and mother, actress Sharmila Tagore, great grand niece of renowned poet Rabindranath Tagore. He has two sisters Soha Ali Khan and Saba Ali Khan.

He did his schooling from Lawrence School, Sanawar and then attended Lockers Park School in Hertfordshire. He graduated from Winchester College in UK and then actively pursued his acting passion.

Saif debuted in Bollywood with the film 'Parampara' in 1993. Although, he got his recognition through 'Yeh Dillagi', opposite Kajol and Akshay Kumar. Later, he appeared in number of films, but they mostly failed at box-office. His few multi-starrer films like 'Main Khiladi Tu Anari', 'Imtihaan' (1994), 'Kachche Dhaage' (1999), 'Hum Saath Saath Hain' and 'Kya Kehna!' were successful.

Year 2001 proved to be the turning point in Saif's career with Farhan Akhtar's 'Dil Chahta Hai', which also featured Aamir Khan and Akshaye Khanna. He was appreciated for his role and was also noticed for the best performance of his career. Later, his films like 'Kal Ho Naa Ho', 'Hum Tum', 'Salaam Namaste', 'Tara Rum Pum', 'Tashan', 'Cocktail'(2011) made a stand for him. He was seen portraying witty-urbanite with chocolate looks. In 2006, he enacted negative role of Langda Tyagi in the desi film, 'Omkara'. In this, he made the audience to envy him through his remarkable performance. Also he played serious roles in 'Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein', 'Parineeta'(2005), 'Being Cyrus', 'Race', 'Kurbaan' (2009) and 'Race 2', thereby proving his versatility. 'Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic', 'Nehlle Pe Dehlla', 'Agent Vinod', 'Hamesha', 'Yeh Hai Mumbai Meri Jaan', 'Biwi No.1', 'Na Tum Jaano Na Hum', 'LOC - Kargil', 'Ek Hasina Thi', 'Darna Mana Hai', 'Aarakshan', 'Bombay Talkies', etc. are some more films done by Saif in his career span.

In 2010, he started his own production house called Illuminati Films. His first film under his home production was 'Love Aaj Kal'; second film being 'Agent Vinod' (2010) and third one was 'Go Goa Gone'. Saif didn't became star over the night, but had gradually grown over the years as an actor. Most of his earlier films were failure, but he had successfully portrayed himself in the multi-starrer films. He then proved that individually also he can deliver hits. He is one of the four leading Khan's of Bollywood. He is patron with Padma Shri Award in 2010, along with number of other prestigious awards.

He is also the face of number of brands, including, Lays, Asian Paints, Ponds, OCM and Amul. His charity work includes, he performance at HELP! Telethon Concert, which was to raise funds for Earthquake victims. Also he funds various charities and hospital run by his ancestral Trust.

Saif has married twice, first to actress Amrita Singh in 1991 and has two children Sara Ali Khan and Ibrahim Ali Khan. They divorced in the year 2004. Later, in the year 2012 he married to his long time girlfriend and Bollywood diva Kareena Kapoor.

The future projects of Saif Ali Khan include, 'Bullet Raja', 'Happy Ending' and 'Humshakals'.
