Shaan Biography

Originally named as Shantanu Mukherjee, Shaan is a renowned playback singer. Born on 30th of September,1972 Shaan breathed his first at Khandwa, Madhya Pradesh. Belonging to a family of artists, with grandfather Jahar Mukherjee being a lyricist, father being a music director Manas Mukherjee and sister Sagarika being a singer, Shaan's future was destined to land in the industry.

Loosing his father at a young age of 13 years, it was his mother who found work as a singer and raised the lad along with the rest of family. Growing up in a low phase, Shaan found a sparkling break at the age of 17 with the 1989 released 'Parinda', the track was titled "Kitni Hai Pyaari Pyaari Dosti Yeh Hamari". Post this the sibling duo, Shaan and Sagarika was together signed up by a recording company "Magnasound" and brought up few successful albums like 'Naujawan' and 'Q-Funk'. The duo later enrolled themselves into pop genre by bringing out remix versions of yesteryear classics, for instance Rahul Dev Burman's "Roop Tera Mastana" and so on.

Receiving a pompous response for the previous delivers encouraged Shaan to pen down the lyrics of his next "Bhool Jaa". The track went on to become an instant hit among the youths, also popularizing Shaan as a marvelous singer. The craze was immense and thus it got reflected on his next release "Tanha Dil", this soon broke all records of then released charts.

Post his enchanting albums, the singer went ahead and transformed as a composer, composing title tracks for various TV serials. This duration had Shaan settled himself in Bollywood lanes firm as a singer. Lending his voice to stars like Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Aamir Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Shahid Kapoor, Anil Kapoor and many more, Shaan's vocals spread like a wild fire. Creating his magic in films like 'Pyaar Mein Kabhi Kabhi', 'Bas Itna Sa Khwab Hai', 'Kal Ho Naa Ho', 'Hum Tum', 'Jhankaar Beats', 'Dhoom', 'Salaam Namaste', 'Koi... Mil Gaya', 'Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna' and others, Shaan established himself as a leading singer of the generation.

Getting a chance to work in such coveted films, Shaan left no stone unturned to deliver melodious tracks like "Woh Pehli Baar", "Tuney Mujhe Pehchana Nahi", "Yeh Hawaien", "Koi Kahe Kehta Rahe", "Woh Ladki Hai Kahan", "Subah Ho Gayi Maamu", "Suno Na", "It's The Time To Disco", "Kal Ho Na Ho", "Main Aisa Kyun Hoon", "Jab Se Tere Naina" and many more to club a huge list. Providing his gem in the Hindi film industry, Shaan reluctantly went on sparked his best also in Kannada, Bengali, Telugu, Tamil and even Nepali film industry. Apart from sanding his talent in the industry, the coveted singer is all famous for spreading his magic at numerous live shows. Catering small time college fests to burning the stages abroad with other lively performances, Shaan is all spoiled for it.

Getting hitched to his love Radhika, the couple succumbs a happy live along with their family and two kids. Recently, Shaan went back to the small screen, post hosting a singing reality show a long time back for the famous 'Sa Re Ga Ma Pa'. Merely, this time around chose to showcase his dancing talents. Dance reality show "Jhalak Dikhla Jaa" which has a concept of letting celebrities contest as participants, had Shaan participating in its 6th season. This is soon after that the singer Shaan shockingly disclosed to quit singing and pursue acting as his full time career. Since his fans would be eager to see their favorite singer acting on the silver screen, they are going to heartily miss his vocals for sure.
