Tabu Biography

The versatile Bollywood actress Tabu originally named as Tabassum Hashmi, was born on the 4th of November 1970 in Hyderabad, India. Born in a family of teachers, Tabu eventually footed her step in B-town as per her elder sister Farha, who herself is a renowned Bollywood actress.

Tabu completed her schooling from St. Anns High School in Hyderabad and later shifted her base to Mumbai for completing her college at St. Xaviers College, Mumbai. Tabu was destined to land up in acting as her aunt Shabana Azmi herself was a famous actress in Bollywood well before she was born. Following the footsteps of aunt and sister, Tabu first time faced the camera when she was just fifteen years old. She starred as a child artist in 1985 released 'Hum Naujawan'.

Merely, soon after her first screen presence, Tabu bounced back to star in as a lead actress. But for a change, Tabu chose a regional Telugu film 'Coolie No.1' as her debuting platform alongside the southern superstar Venkatesh. Eventually, Tabu marked her Bollywood debut in the year 1994 with 'Pehla Pehla Pyar'. The film sunk and the actress went unnoticed. However, the wait was not too long, as she managed to bounce back with 'Vijaypath' alongside Ajay Devgn, which not only brought appraisal for the beauty but grabbed her first Filmfare Award for Best Female Debutant. As the success wagon caught up speed, Tabu too zoomed along with hell lot of projects that included several lingual flicks from Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Marathi as well as English.

The list consists of films like 'Sisindri' (Telugu), 'Haqeeqat', 'Saajan Chale Sasural', 'Himmat', 'Jeet', 'Maachis', 'Virasat', 'Border', 'Iruvar' (Tamil), Chachi 420', 'Kohram', 'Hu Tu Tu', 'Biwi No.1', 'Cover story' (Malayalam), 'Hera Pheri', 'Astitva', 'Chandni Bar', 'Hawa', 'Maqbool', 'Shock' (Telugu) and 'Fanaa'. However, after so much a do in the Indian cinema, Tabu was noticeable on the international platform as well.

The 2007 release 'The Namesake' launched Tabu to the audiences in Hollywood, which too in return appreciated the beauty for her marvels in acting. Soon then, Tabu planned to turn the heads back at home with her experimental 'Cheeni Kum' alongside the veteran Amitabh Bachchan. The subject was unique and so was the pairing which later raised a few eyebrows in India. Nevertheless, after mixed reviews for her experimentation, Tabu continued to serve the audiences with yet another Hollywood venture 'Life of Pi' and later with 'David' that was released in Hindi as well as in Tamil. As per the rising career graph, the actress has already a lot to offer the viewers with her future projects that are hell lot of interesting as her previous.
