AAKROSH is a movie directed by Priyadarshan who has directed some hit and meaningful films such as VIRASAT, KAALA PAANI, GARDISH, MUSKURAHAT, in the past. Thereafter he changed his track from serious cinema to fun films and he directed many hit films in series such as HERA PHERI, BHAGAM BHAG, MAALA MAL WEEKLY, HUNGAMA, BHOOL BHOOLAIYA, DE DANA DAN etc. Recently he directed a film for children based on children titled as BUM BUM BOLE which didn't do well at the box office and also his comedy film KHATTA MITHA was disaster at the box office.

The film AAKROSH is neither a comedy film nor a film for children. It is a film for the society. This film has been made on caste system prevalent in India and due to which honour killing takes place at many places.

The film stars Ajay Devgan, Akshye Khanna, Bipasa Basu, Paresh Rawal, Reema Sen, Amita Pathak, Sameera Reddy. The film is produced by Kumar Mangat under the banner Big Screen Entertainer and ZEE Motion Pictures. Its writers are Robin Bhatt and Akash Khurana.

Preetam Chakraborty is its music director.

The story of the film is such:

Three students vanish mysteriously from a remote village Jhanjhar. Other students start demand to find them. Then a CBI officer Siddhant Chaturvedi (Akshaye Khanna) and an army officer Major Pratap Kumar (Ajay Devagan), are sent to Jhanjhar village to investigate the case and find out the students.

When the officers reach Jhanjhar village, they soon realize that the village was dominated by high caste and case could be the main factor involved in the students' disappearance. They also feel that politicians were involved in this matter.

How they reach to the root of the problem and what are the obstacles they face in their way while solving the problem is the rest of the film.

Ajay Devgan has done many serious films like this yet he is very good in this film.
Akshaye Khanna too is brilliant in his role. He looks like real CBI officer.

Bipasa Basu should be appreciated for choosing such role. Her role is non glamorous yet she has left very good impression. She has proved that she is not here to show her glamour and beauty but she also knows serious acting.

Paresh Rawal is superb in his role. He has justified his role hundred percent.

Sameera looks glamorous in her item song. It seems that this song was not needed in the film but due to success of item song of DABANG (Munni Badnaam Hui) its producer director might have made plan to insert one item song.  However, this song is okay and mass would like it.

Film AAKROSH is a tight film. It tries to keep you hooked till the end. It is a good and brave effort to make film on honour killing issue. But the film could have been tighter. There are some loopholes in the script. CBI department has been shown very weak and everyone makes fun of it which is hard to digest.

Action scenes are good. But there are too many brutal scenes. The director could have minimized some brutal scenes.

There were hardly any scope of songs and dances in a film like it. This is the reason why there are very less songs and dances in it. Pritam has composed SUDEBAJI song very well and its choreography is also appreciable.

The director has done his job very well and will not let you feel that he is a comedy director. The film contains good social message. Hence you should watch this film at least once.
