De Dana Dan Review

The kind of movies that Priyadarshan make, this movie is a bit a disappointment to his fans. The movie is scriptless, very much over the top and very loud as it misearably fail to impress the viewers. The treatment given to 'De Dana Dan' is poor and senseless. If you are really willing to enjoy the movie then please leave your brains at home and come. The movie has more than 20 characters in its script that are played by well-known actors in the film industry. The story with many horrible issues in it that runs here and there, which makes the story a bit confusing. Frankly speaking, there was no need of pulling so many actors of the comedy genre in the movie and that too ranging from the veterans Asrani & Shakti Kapoor to the latest Johny Lever & Rajpal Yadav, knowing that the presence of famous "Hera Pheri" comic trio was enough to fill in the gaps. In 'De Dana Dan', Priyadarshan has treated the story requirement in a very careless manner, although storyline was never a major highlight of his projects. The story starts of well with Akshay Kumar narrating his story and then Suniel Shetty's that further continues with their love song with their opposite leads Katrina Kaif and Sameera Reddy and then suddenly a kidnapping takes place that was planned for the darling dog Mulchanji but which mistakenly turns out to be Akshay Kumar's. It fails to convince even if you are wanting to enjoy this brainless comedy flick, as Akshay Kumar is a full grown man and the whole Indian community in Singapore (as the whole plot takes place in Singapore) and the entire media is searching for a kid, as that was only photograph available of the kidnapped person. Then movie starts going into different directions, which seems to be desperately trying to make you laugh. God save!! Post-interval the movie gets lost in its script and after an hour, you will find that nothing related to the story is going on. All the characters confusingly follow each other here and there with mistaken identities that arises as they all are collectively living in the same 5 Star Hotel. Everyone keeps barging into unknown rooms in idea of making us laugh. However, what was not understood was post interval Akshay Kumar suddenly vanishes from the plot for more than half hour as he gets locked into a closet in a room and remains there for a long time. Now that's really strange as Akshay is the most popular star and most sellable among the star cast in the film and ofcourse other than him anyone could have been easily locked with a little change in the script. Well the climax is more surprising than any other scene in the movie where the on the top floor the water reservoir of more than 30 storey building explodes due to bomb which turns into a major flood like situation in such a biiiig hotel and that turn into the entire building floating in water on every floor. Just one simple question I would like to ask, How come that water had so much intensity that it takes all them in huge force with big waves until the ground floor? That was a bit strange or says it as over exaggeration. Well if we look out for the performance then this movie can make a record for casting so many actors and resulting in nobody even making their presence felt in the end of the film. The viewers are really gonna miss the cult Paresh Rawal act of his previous comedy flicks as in this movie he is really trying hard to make himself sound funny with his intentional Punjabi accent. Akshay Kumar keeps on vanishing like the script of this movie as he is not entirely seen in the movie. He starts off well as a servant working in Archana Puran Singh's house as a motive to pay her back the money that his father borrowed from her for the purpose of educating Akshay Kumar. However, later in the scene he gets lost in the overcrowded star-cast. The director should have used Akshay for his perfect comic timing as he did before in his previous movies. Suniel Shetty seems to be used to complete the famous Hera Pheri trio, as he is not given his timing properly. If talked about Katrina Kaif and Sameera Reddy, both of them can count there major scenes on one hand. They are used in the film only to occupy the place as the female leads and nothing else. However, in comparison of them Neha Dhupia makes a better impact in her few moments on screen and looks like she is playing the major part in the female league in the movie. She also has an item number where she looks awesomely sexy and very convincing. Archana Puran Singh is shouting more and acting less whereas Aditi Gowariker shows it off again that she is still a better model. Shakti Kapoor is again offered the same sex maniac act in the script. Chunkey Pandey, Rajpal Yadav and Johny Lever looks simply wasted in their unimportant roles whereas Asrani, Tinnu Anand and Manoj Joshi have become a routine. But a simple question generates that what are Sharat Saxena & Vikram Gokhale doing here as they simply do not belong to this type of genre. Well this time Pritam has lost over his music, as he is not outstanding as expected. But the major hit is its RDB track "Paisa Paisa" and has its own music history in the Punjabi Music Industry. Actually, this track was an opening song of the Manek-E's Debut Album that was released a few years back, which had music by RDB. Akshay and RDB thought to use this song as in the promotional campaign for the movie with the same singer that turned out to be the only hit part of the movie. Therefore, this is another cheers to RDB. Background score by Salim-Suleman is energetic and that gives another winning hat to the brothers. Cinematography is good as per the requirement of the plot. On a whole, it sets another example for better promotion and disappointingly poor content. Therefore, viewers hope that you enjoy this movie but please do not forget that you were warned.
