Rating: 1.5/5

One Line Review: A 2.5 hour visual material which does not entertain you as promised.

Positive Points: Visually attractive locations, peppy music tracks and background score are the only engaging factors.

Negative Points: Sarcastic humour, bad performances and an inferior plot may make this flick poorly palatable.

Plot: Dev (Mohit Marwah), Gaurav (Vijender Singh) and Aditya (Arfi Lamba) and Devi (Kiara Advani) are a group of friends who wants to enjoy their life after college. One day Devi happens to get into a rift with a lecherous shop-keeper, who lusts for women. She gets humiliated when the shopkeeper tries to molest her.

This incident enrages the four friends who then plan to teach the menacing shopkeeper a lesson. When the friends harasses the shopkeeper, they get caught by corrupt drunkard police officer Chautala (Jimmy Shergill). The cop then kills the shopkeeper, camouflages the whole episode and threatens to make the four friends the culprits of the murder. The corrupt cop demands bribe and threatens them to send them to tihar jail if they don't abide to his orders. The trepidation and apprehension that gets cultivated among the four friends makes them feel helpless forcing them to conduct nefarious practices. Will they be able to prove themselves innocent and bring the corrupt cops before law forms the rest of the story.

Direction And Other Technical Aspects: Direction by Kabir Sadanand is below average. The film lacked the pace that was required also gradually weakens the viewers' curiosity to know what is going to happen next.

Cinematography is visually rich. Milind Jog has tried to keep every frame appealing without too much of noisy shades and irrelevant colors. The locations are attractively captured evident in the song "Banjarey" that has been meticulously shot. Art direction, production and costumes were good. Camera work was average. Music by Yo Yo Honey Singh, Prashant Vadhyar and Raftaar and Badshah must be credited as it is only the songs that save the fate of this low-intense potboiler.

Performance: Jimmy Shergill as the corrupt cop was just average with his fake mustache which was just a mere unwanted decoration. Vijender Singh like in real life plays a boxing champion but none of his boxing skills proved to be of any use in this movie. Mohit Marwah was good and had enough scope to showcase his acting skills, whereas Kiara Advani had nothing much but her role was important and she delivered a good performance.

Music: Music is it that counts in this movie. Peppy tracks like "Banjarey" and "Fugly Fugly" will surely please the ears of music lovers. Arijit Singh's track named "Dhuaan" is heart touching. Background music is average, nothing extra ordinary.

Final Verdict: 'Fugly' is just an average movie with good foot-tapping music tracks and also at the end has a good message for its viewers. This is surely a one-time watch.
