Go Goa Gone Review

Rating: 3.5/5

One Line Review: A harebrained comic entertainer which is suitable to watch with easy-going friends.

Positive Points: New and innovative story, slapstick comedy, hilarious punches

Negative Points: Excessive use of filthy language, direction

Plot: Luv (Vir Das), Hardik (Kunal Khemu) and Bunny (Anand Tiwari) are three friends. Luv is dumped by his girlfriend and is frustrated. Hardik gets jobless due to his irresponsible act in the office and so is perturbed. Both the friends get excited when they get to know that Bunny is heading to Goa for his office work. They decide to join Bunny in his Goa tour. Eventually, the trio land up in Goa to get away from their monotonous average lives. In Goa, they attend a rave party which is organized on a deserted island which is organized by a Russian mafia.

In that rave party, people consume one gleaming red pill (drug) which turns every living person into a zombie. Eventually, the trio learns that they have landed up on a desolate island which is full of the walking dead. Things take an exciting turn when they meet a Russian Zombie hunter Boris (Saif Ali Khan) who seems to be an amusingly unconventional and idiosyncratic character.

Will Boris be able to hunt all the walking dead?

Will the trio become successful in leaving the zombie island safely or they will become the food for zombies?

Direction And Other Technical Aspects: The director duo Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK have presented a light comedy which is suitable for today's happy-go-lucky youngsters. The directors have given the first ever zombie comedy with an innovative concept. But, they could have add up more horror and thrill to the story. They could not create the environment for the zombie movie that perfectly. The movie is a slapstick fun, but the language used in the movie is full of adult and slang words. It is an entertainer, but the writer could have avoided the over use of expletive language. There is an excessive use of vulgar words which makes the language intolerable at some moments. The camera work is average and so is the direction. The make -up of the zombies could have been better. Overall, we can say that 'Go Goa Gone' is a heedless entertainer.

Performances: Young blood Kunal Khemu catches your attention with his effortless performance. He creates a concrete humor and gives some good punches. But, it is Saif Ali Khan who proves his seniority amongst the young boys and marks his strong presence on screen. He looks different in his new avatar as a Russian mafia with a Desi touch. His dialogue delivery with a touch of Russian accent is excellent. Vir Das and Anand Tiwari performed well in their limited perimeters. Puja Gupta looks good but has a limited role in the film.

Music: Music director duo Sachin-Jigar have performed their jobs well. All the songs, especially, Babaji Ki Booty sticks to your tongues when you leave the cinema hall. The background score is also suitable for the script.

Final Verdict: 'Go Goa Gone' is a light hearted comedy with a new concept of a 'zom-com'. If you loved 'Delhi Belly' and 'Kyaa Super Kool Hain Hum', then you will love to watch this absolute entertainer but only with your free-minded friends.
