KHAP is a Hindi feature film produced by Sangita Sinha and Siddhanth Sinha under the banner of Ananda Films and Telecommunications Pvt Ltd. This film has been directed by Ajai Sinha. This film released on 29th July, 2011.

Story : This is the story of social customs which are very cruel and prevalent from ancient times in some parts of our society. This story is based on the issue of honour killings.

In Haryana, there is a village where Khap is a panchayat headed by Omkar Chaudhary(Om Puri). Other prominent villagers are Govind Namdeo, Manoj Pahwa etc. Khap panchayat is against the marriage of couples who marry within their own clan. If anyone dares to marry within their clan, they are brutally killed in the name of honour killing.

Madhur (Mohnsh Behl) is the son of Omkar who hates what his father and his panchayat do in the name of honour killing. So he leaves his village and settles in Delhi with his wife and daughter. In Delhi he joins a job with National Human Rights Commission.

One day in his village Veer and Surili are punished to death by the village panchayat because they had dared to marry each other despite being of the same clan. Human rights commission sends Madhur to find out the truth of the case but in a circumstance he is killed in his village. But before taking his last breath he tells his father not to continue honour killing as his last wish. He also takes promise from his father and Omkar promises him.

But later on Madhur's daughter Ria (Yuvika Chaudhary) and Kush start loving each other and get married to each other. Later on they come to know that they were within their clan.

When the villagers come to know this, they get furious and ask Omkar to punish them to death.

Ria is Omkar's granddaughter so would he kill her or get her killed? Above all, Omkar had promised his son to end that cruel custom but villagers like Govind Namdeo, Manoj Pahwa (Daulat Singh) etc. are putting pressure on him and demanding justice. So would Omkar break his promise given to his son?

No, he doesn't break his promise and Ria and Kush are not punished.

The film has happy ending.

Performance : The performance of Om Puri is excellent. Govind Namdeo is also good. Manoj Pahwa suits better in comic roles rather than in serious roles like this.

Yuvika Chaudhary and Sarrtaj look immature in acting and need to improve their acting skills.

Script : Script is weak and diverts from the main issue at many places and lack entertaining scenes. Dialogues are also below average.

Music : Despite famous playback singers such as Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Shreya Ghosal, Shaan etc. the music director could not deliver melodious songs.

Direction : This film is directed by Ajai Sinha who has earlier directed a film STOP and a few TV serials. Direction is weak and in serial style. The director couldn't present the subject in a well and impressive manner.

Conclusion : The subject of the film is good but the director has given emphasis on love romance of Yuvika and Sarrtaj much more than needed which make the film dull and boring.

Verdict : Not worth watching in theaters. Wait for its DVD or satellite release. If you want entertainment, you will not find in it!
