Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey is a movie directed by Ashutosh Gowariker based on the book 'Do or Die' written by Manini Chatterjee about a true event based on an uprising in the year 1930 in Chittagong. It consists of a star cast of Abhishek Bachchan, Visakha who plays Pritilata Waddekar and Deepika Padukone (playing Kalpana Dutta). The movie is produced by Ajay Bijli, Sanjeev Bijli and Sunita A Gowariker.

The movie portrays the era of 1930 that turns out to be a year after Gandhiji carried on the Civil disobedience movement. Unfortunately, the youngsters of a place Chittagong in Bengal believe that this movement hasn't done any good and hence move ahead to take on the British on their own. They form a group, a majority of them being teenagers, 5 revolutionaries, 56 brave boys, 2 young women all of whom are led by Surjya Sen who basically is a simple school teacher played by Abhishek Bachchan. This gang plans their attacks at 5 places which seem important to the British i.e. the European club, the railway line, telegraph office, the cantonment and the police lines and how they execute the same on the night of April 18 1930.

The 11 main characters of 13 year olds are played well by the individuals. Deepika and Abhishek are brilliant in their roles and have justified their characters. One of the actors who does need a special mention is Maninder who plays the character of Anant Singh.

The Music is done by Sohail Sen. The album consists of songs like Yeh Des Hai Mera by Sohail Sen and Sapney. Vande Mataram seems wonderful! It consists of a couple of instrumental which is fine. The screenplay too is done by Ashutosh himself. The movie precisely gets the backdrop, the clothes, ammunition right the only one hindrance being the accent.

The Cinematography is done by Kiran Deohans and Seetha Sandhiri. The screenplay is done by Ashutosh himself. The movie precisely gets the backdrop, the clothes, ammunition right the only one hindrance being the accent.

Ashutosh Gowariker has now created a fine image with movies like Lagaan, Jodha Akbar, Swades which portrays his fine cinematic excellence. Here, is another movie by him which brings forth the emotion of Patriotism.

Something that seems all the more touchy is the fact that what brings about this uprising or the starting point of this entire event is the teenagers yearning to get back their football ground which has been taken over by the British. The movie is a thriller filled with action and brutal blood show portraying the fight of these youngsters to gain back their nation.

The movie does manage stir some patriotism into you and even make you cry in some. At times the movie turns out to be quite slow but overall it is a good movie, though it might not attract masses.

You must watch this film if you love your country and freedom!
