Khoobsurat Review

One Line Review: If your sense of infuriation is not in working condition, this movie will help you refurbish it.

Positive Points: Screen presence of two veteran actors and of course the end credit song.

Negative Points: The script of the movie, Sonam's over ambitiously garnished fake dialogues and lame situations throughout the movie proves disastrous.

Plot: Mili Chakravarty (Sonam Kapoor) is a physiotherapist. She comes from a very broad hearted family with no extremity barrier which shows up in the sequence where she addresses her mother by name.With that at one side, life so goes on and it so happens that Mili comes to the home of Rathores and learns that the family is a dynasty of snobs surrounded by people with deliberately raised chins.

Gradually, Mili makes attempts to transmute the lookout of the Rathores by indulging in practices one would never attempt to do. She is assigned to treat a wheelchair-bound monarch of Sambhalgarh (Aamir Raza Hussain). She helps the patriarch to recover. There is also this Nirmala Devi Rathore (Ratna Pathak). Mili manages to help the pretty heiress to chase her dreams and ambitions without looking back. Parallel to this situation, she falls for Vikram Rathore (Fawad Khan). It is at the time when Vikram is about to exchange rings with Kiara (Aditi Rao Hydari) that Mili intrudes and vigorously kisses him and disrupts the ceremony. Though Mili and Vikram carry a Pan Am pseudo smile on their face, it is transparent that they are indulging to castigate each other. And this sparks fights between the two diverse families. Who will win in the end and will the couple everreunite forms the rest of the story.

Music: The music department is handled by Sneha Khanwalkar and Badshah with different lyricist for each of its songs. Every song has a different lyricist - Ikram Rajasthani, Badshah, Sunil Chaudhary, Amitabh Verma and Sneha Khanwalkar. The first song "Engine Ki Seeti" sung by Sunidhi Chauhan and Resmi Sateesh sounds like a Rajasthani folk number with slangs used. "AbhiToh Party Shuru Hui Hai" sung by Aastha guided by Badshah offers the same effect the above track gave. "Baal Khade" sung by Sunidhi Chauhan is a finely rendered lame track that nobody would show interest to listen again. Jasleen Kaur Royal's "Preet" does not prove to be good either. "Maa Ka Phone" that is played when the end credits elevate up sounds like as if we are being thanked for tolerating the movie that lapsed about for 127 minutes. Overall, the music department did not help save the show.

Performance: Sonam Kapoor as Mili Chakravarthy comes across as a loud girl. Fawad Khan playing the role of Vikramaditya Rathore was the only one who attempted to save the movie. While carrying a sharp look, he portrayed his role with ease. He may prove to be a better actor in serious roles. Ratna Pathak in the role of Niramala Devi did not perform upto the level of 'Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na' until we witnessed the climax of the movie where she breaks down to tears which was a really moving scene. Kirron Kher, as the Punjabi mom was in top form to get to the nerves of the infuriated forbearers.

Direction and Other Techniques: The main flaw in this movie was its script and it proved to be a sheer haphazard. Direction by Shashank Ghosh is a blunder. The movie looked very incomplete rather it should not have been made. Other than a few crores been distributed to hire the actors and to design the locations, there was nothing more that proved to have efforts invested. The movie's editing was way too poor with unwanted dialogues and over-stretched situation that was just too sarcastic and hard to digest. It looked like senior actors Ratna Pathak and Aamir Raza Hussain were doing a reality show with artificial situations and unwanted melodrama coated on an unsavoury script. Indira Bisht is yet to learn the real art of script writing. Lame dialogues for example: "Aap ki taango mein sensation hai, aap theek ho sakte hai." redefines insanity at its peak.

Final Verdict: If time is money for you, don't dare to experience this trash.
