MALLIKA is a movie which falls in the genre of Horror films.
The story of the film is such:
Sanjana (Sheena Nayyar) is troubled by horrified dreams and vibrant visions of a murder which had taken place in her house long time back. This gives her so much trouble and mental pain that she can't bear it. To get rid of this she decides to go for a vacation to some other place so that those horrifying visions could stop following her. Eventually, she goes to Rajasthan to change her mind in a fort cum resort. But she didn't know that the matter for her was going to become worse than bad.
There lies a deep secret in the chest of that fort which is related with her. That is more horrifying and frightening than what she was facing at her home. She doesn't know what to do. She gets trapped.
What is going to be with her is the rest of the film.
Few years back, when there was hardly any satellite channel, Ramsay Brothers used to rule Indian Cinema in terms of horror or ghost stories. Though there were a few more producers-directors such as Kanti Shah etc who used to make ghost films but Ramsay Brothers were considered as its specialist.
But after the introduction of TV channels such as ZEE TV, SONY TV, horror shows like ZEE HORROR SHOW and AAHAT decreased the value of horror films and people enjoyed watching such TV shows more rather than watching horror movies in theater. These TV shows were much more horrifying than horror movies. AAHAT had created sensation among the audiences and this was also one of the high rated TV show which gave SONY TV huge popularity and which credit goes to its producer director B.P.Singh.
Many other shows such as MANO YA NA MANO of Ekta Kapoor too had become famous. Hence many makers of horror films were discouraged to make horror films.

In recent times Ram Gopal Varma was known to make series of horror films but except a few, others could not create horror.

Though making horror movies doesn't require high budget because you don't have to cast big stars for that and even the locations are limited. Only you have to spend some money on special effects and costumes, special sound effects etc. Still people are unable to make successful horror films due to lack of proper and scary subject. Some makers try to copy foreign films but after adaptation their effects are diminished.

Mallika too isn't scary. It is a ghost story but more than ghost you will get to see exposure of some female characters. In early days makers of the horror films used to present their female characters in bathroom bathing with half naked body when they would see blood oozing out of the tap. But such exposure scenes were limited in those days. But MALLIKA is flooded with such sexy and scenes of exposure.

In this film, every female character is seen bathing in bathroom after every ten minutes or so with their bodies half naked. It seems that the makers of the film have tried to attract viewers tempting them with such sexy scenes. But I don't think that they will succeed.

The performances by many artists are below average. Sheena Nair has tried to act but failed. The director could take out anything out of her except some of her clothes. Sammir Dattani too is average. Mamik is okay. Hamanshu Malik has hardly anything to do so there is no question of performance.

Rajesh Khera and Suresh Nair are so and so.

The script of the movie has many loopholes and is also shady. Of course the make up and music department (especially back ground score department) have tried to do their best. Cinematography is also up to the mark. But the direction by the director Wilson Louis is non existent and not up to the mark. He has put all his attention to bathroom scenes rather than the main plot of the film.
Except those sexy scenes of women bathing with less dress on their bodies, there is hardly anything new in this film. Above all it is not going to scare you.
Hence it is not worth watching this film and wasting your high earned money.
But if you have never watched any horror movie in the past and it makes you curious what a horror movie look like, you can go for it. But I don't advice you to go for it with your family.
The film is directed by Wilson Louis and its casts are Sameer Dattani, Sheena Nayar, Himanshu Malik, Rajesh Khera, Suresh Menon , Arjun Mahajan etc.
