Matrubhoomi Plot

It's a story of Indian culture. In an imaginary place ironically named Janambhumi (birthplace), women are fewer and fewer, for the habit of killing baby girls at birth, according to a now outdated custom, though still in use in some parts of India. The insane tradition has however resulted in the scantiness of women available for marriage. To overcome the problem, the chief of a village, father of five adolescent boys of marriageable age, literally buys one of the few girls in the village and marries her to his five sons at the same time, himself abusing her night after night, day after day. Tired of the many abuses of power and of the violence done to the girl, the village rises against the chief and his sons, while the pregnant girl gives birth to a child.
