Pyaar Impossible! Review

Rating: 2.5/5

After a long time (After the release of the film Neil N Neki) Uday Chopra came back as the hero of film Pyaar Impossible from his own production company. With this film he has also turned as a film writer. Well! Becoming a film writer is the easiest thing for anyone who is himself a producer. But one should take full advantage of it because you don't have to struggle and run after other producers to listen to your story and turn it into a film.

But Uday Chopra didn't take advantage of that. He is a good actor; in fact he can be called as an excellent actor. His character and performance was liked too much in the films DHOOM and DHOOM 2. Though his film Neil N Neiki wasn't successful, Uday Chopra proved himself to be a great actor with that film. Even in the film Pyaar Impossible, Uday Chopra is superb in acting but he should have either hired a good writer to write a good story or he himself would have written good and sensible story.

But his story is weak, hence the chances of tasting success on the box office is low.

The story is about a geek guy Abhay Sharma (Uday Chopra) who studies in the college of Alisha (Priyanka Chopra) in a university in California.

Alisha is the name of that dream everyone wished came true. The most beautiful girl on campus, she makes hearts flutter like leaves in the wind.

Priyanka is the most beautiful girl (but not good) in that college. Everybody loves Alisha. Abhay is no exception. He has fallen in love with her but he is unable to express it. The reason behind it is that Abhay considers himself nothing in front of her princess like look and living style. Priyanka is very beautiful whereas Abhay considers himself ugly so regards himself unworthy for her.

Abhay, who spends most of his college years crushing on the campus hottie Alisha, who barely notices him at all, even though he once saved her from drowning. And this is the reason why I mentioned above that Alisha, though beautiful, is not a good girl. Later on you would too find her that she's pretty harebrained, she's not a responsible mother, she has a fake accent, and she dresses like a tart.

Abhay loves her but even when he gets golden opportunity to express his feeling to Priyanka, he couldn't do that. He doesn't find courage to express his love with the fear of rejection. Even Alisha doesn't ever realize that Abhay loved her.

This film is a different breed of stupid as it follows all the stereotypical plot points of a girl falling for the man of her dreams, but doesn't realize it until the last second. This point would irritate you.

Till this point the story was going well but the shocking part of this love story based film was to see Alisha (Priyanka) married to somebody else.

The story goes like this:

Seven years later, Abhay is still single and still geeky – a replica of his dad Anupam Kher. He develops a computer software on which any operating system is compatible. But his software program is stolen by Dino Morea who is now trying to sell to a

Singapore company.

Dino Morea is about to sell the software to a firm in Singapore and our man Abhay lands up there to exercise his intellectual property rights.

No surprise that Abhay bumps into Alisha there who happens to be the company's PR official. But she also is now a divorcee and has a daughter Tanya of 7 years. Abhay is surprised as well as overwhelmed to see her. After so many years he was seeing her. She is now a divorcee working mother but no body understands why she repeats this fact again and again.

Somehow, Abhay ends up as Tanya's nanny.

This is one of the script's faults because no one can understand why Alisha left her daughter with a male nanny whom she has never met.

Before you know it, Tanya tries to set up her nanny with her mom. She has a sleep over at a friend's house so mom and nanny can bond. The next day asking her what happened between them is rubbish.

One another fault of the script is when Abhay meets Alisha, he doesn't even tell her the reason why he was there. He doesn't tell her that for whom she was working, that company's boss had stolen his software. There were ample occasions when Uday could have opened his heart, his motive of arriving in Singapore, that he's not a nanny, that he had been cheated by Dino. But he doesn't!

Yash Raj Films' Pyaar Impossible adopts the beauty and the geek formula, but its director Jugal Hansraj does an average job of handling the subject.

It's no college love story, as has been projected in the promos. But the film does begin at university, with ample campus shots to make you feel sorry you went to one with less imposing buildings.

The message of the film is good. One shouldn't judge a person by their looks. But it has not been converted into a successful movie.

Except the story, everything works in the film Pyaar Impossible.

The director Jugal Hanshraj is better than his previous film Roadside Romeo.

Manish Malhotra does get Priyanka perfectly in sync with both her images: serious mom and hot girl. So you have her switching from casual shorts at home to slinky off-shoulders at parties and no-nonsense dresses at work. Uday wears his shirts out and his geeky specs in place.

Priyanka Chopra and Uday Chopra have given sparkling performance. Priyanka's outfits are superb and she has looked gorgeous. Salim-Sulaiman's music is average. Santosh Thundiyil's cinematography is good who has explored Singapore very well.

Dino Morea needs some expression.

Though Anupam Kher's role is short but he has done his best. And above all the kid playing Priyanka's daughter is superb. Any one can notice her and foretell her bright future.

Overall the film is average.

The worst thing what the makers of the film did is its wrong promotion. The promos made you feel that it was a college love story but it's different. So if college goers go to watch this film tempted by the promos they would surely get disappointed which would eventually affect the business of the film.

This film would do well in the overseas but would hardly get success in its own Country.

You can watch this film for the sake of Priyanka and Uday and good message.
