RIWAYAT is a Hindi feature film that released on September 7, 2012. It has been directed by Vijay Patkar and produced under the banner of Horizon Films Pvt Ltd. It stars actors Narendra Jha, Rajendra Gupta, Khalid Siddiqui, Aditya Lakhia, Achint Kaur etc. Now the question arises – should you watch this movie? To know the answer, you need to read the complete review.

Story : Anita (Samapika Debnath), is a NGO activist. She gets married to a rich tycoon Raj (Khalid Siddique). But she doesn't know that very soon she is going to encounter a big social problem! She gets involved in the eradication of the problem of female feticide because she comes to know that people consider girl child a burden in their village. They do not even dare to think twice before getting rid of the girl child.

Being a NGO activist as well as a good human being, she decides to fight for it and stop this ill practice. Would she get success when villagers, policemen and other people are against her? What problems she would have to face? Such questions are answered in the remaining part of the film.

Performance : Rajendra Gupta has done good job as a public health centre cynical doctor. Saurabh Dubey is also okay. Remaining actors are just okay. Salil Ankola looks good but doesn't get much footage. Achint Kaur is as usual. Sayaji Shinde appears in a cameo.

Script : It has been written on the burning issue of female foeticide. Though the issue is social, it has become repetitive and old. Its screenplay is not tight and doesn't impress you. There are many loopholes in it. Dialogues are average.

Music : Background music is okay.

Direction : This film has been directed by Vijay Patkar. Though he has chosen a burning issue, he could not execute it in an impressive manner. The film doesn't keep you hooked and also the cast does not impress you in terms of performance, except a few. The issue of female foeticide has become repetitive as it appeared on Aamir Khan's show 'Satyamev Jayte' and in previous film 'Jalpari'.

Plus Points : Issue of the Film.

Minus Points : Cast, Poor Execution; Common Plot, Weak Screenplay

Conclusion : Last week a film was released on similar storyline – on the issue of female foeticide. After a long time (nearly 2 years) roaming in film festivals it has been released in theatres. So a limited audience who kept talking about it may be attracted towards it. Due to low star cast it many not attract huge audience even though the issue is social & burning!

Box Office Predictions : It would be very difficult for it to earn even its making cost.

Verdict : Its storyline is touching but due to many drawbacks in the film it can be skipped in theatres.
