SINGHAM is an action-drama Hindi film which released on 22nd July, 2011. This film is directed by Rohit Shetty under the banner of Reliance Big Pictures. The film mainly stars Ajay Devgan and Prakash Raj.

After a gap of nearly 7 years Ajay Devegan is once again seen in action movie Singham. Even Rohit Shetty is back with action movie after a gap of 7-8 years. Meanwhile he had been directing comedy films such as GOALMAAL & its sequel and ALL THE BEST. All these films were successful at the box office. It seems that by seeing the huge success of action films such as WANTED & DABBANG of Salman Khan, Rohit Shetty & Ajay Devgan got tempted to do an action movie. After all both of them are masters in action; Ajay Devgan's blockbuster action film PHOOL AUR KANTE can't be forgotten in which Rohit Shetty was an assistant director.

Story : It is the story of Bajirao Singham(Ajay Devgan) who is lives in a village on the boarder of Maharashtra and Goacalled Shivgad and who is an honest police officer who fights against in justice and discrimination in the society. Jaykant Shirke (Prakash Raj) is a powerful politician cum criminal who finds Singham one of the biggest obstacles in his way of crime so he starts making his life miserable through all his means.

Another honest police officer Rakesh Kadam had to commit suicide because he failed to fight the villains like Jaykant Shirke. Now Singham takes Kadam's place to fight the villain.

Singham loves Kavya (Kajal Aggarwal)and he decides to uproot Jaykant Shirke who was the main cause of all problems. He battles against the criminals without breaking any law.

Performances:Ajay Devgan has proved his excellence in comedy films but he is actually one of the best when it comes to action films. He has done his action scenesvery well which will remind you the action scenes of WANTED and DABBANG of Salman Khan.

Prakash Raj's performance is impeccable. Despite being a South Indian, his dialogue delivery is good.

Kajal Agarwal (Kajal Aggarwal) is also good in her role and looks decent.

Other actors such as Ashok Sharaff,Sachin Khedkar, Govind Namdeo etc have got little footage in this film but they are okay in their characters.

Script : The story of the film is good.Since it is a remake of Tamil film SINGAM the story didn't require any change because it was good. However the screenplay has been written by Yunus Sajawal which is average.

Music : Music composed by Ajay-Atul is average. The songs can be played for a few times only; not again and again.

Cinematography : DOP Dudley has done his job brilliantly. When it comes to action scenes, your camera person has to be brilliant. Dudley has done very well in capturing the pictures.

Choreography : Ganesh Acharya is just above average.

Direction : Rohit Shetty has directed the film brilliantly. However due to a bit weak screenplay the film becomes weak at many places. The action scenes have been designed by Rohit Shetty himself which are brilliant and fascinating. The action scenes have been executed by Jai Singh in well manner. Rohit Shetty has proved that he is not only good in directing comedy films but actually he is better in directing action films.

Plus Points : It is a clean film so can be watched with family. Action scenes of Ajay Devgan are entertaining and are also plus point of this film.

Conclusion : This film is remake of Tamil film and is well made film. It contains all masalas to entertain you. However it becomes weak at many places due to weak screenplay.

Verdict : If you love watching action films it is for you. A well made film. Go for it!
