THE DIRTY PICTURE is a Hindi feature film which released on 2nd November, 2011. This film is another venture of Balaji with its hit team of ONCE UPON A TIME IN MUMBAI with a few changes such as Ajay Devgan, Kangna Ranawat etc. Otherwise the director Milan Luthria; the writer Rajat Arora and the actor Imraan Hashmi remain the same.

Story : This is the story of a highly ambitious lady who lives in a village. The lady is Vijayalakshmi (Vidya Balan) who wants to become a film actress. But her mother is not broad minded and doesn't like all these; hence she had arranged her marriage to cut her feathers so that she can't fly. Vidya is not at all ready for it and to fulfill her ambitions and dreams she runs away from her village just before her marriage.

She reaches the glamour industry and like any other struggler, she struggles to get a role in any film. She visits studios, producers' offices to get a role in their films. After a long struggle she gets a small role in a film to do an item song. Imraan Hashmi is the director of the film. He doesn't like Vidya's (Known as Silk Smita in the film) hot song and at the time of release of the film, he deletes her song from the film.

Silk get depressed to know this.

However, the film proves to be a failure at the box office. But good luck strikes Vidya because one day the producer of this film somehow watches this song and is very much impressed. He adds the song in the film and releases it again. This time the film does well and is a big hit. Thereafter the journey of Vijaya Lakshmi as Silk Smita begins in the film.

Silk is loved by two men and both want her. One of them is Tusshar Kapoor and the other one is; well for that you need to visit the theaters to know the man and to know finally who gets successful in getting her love.

This film portrays the success of an item song actress as well as her downfall and it's after effects.

This film also shows the frustration of the flop director Abraham (Imraan Hashmi) who gets jealous of Silk Smita's popularity without whom, he was regarded worthless.

Performances:Vidaya Balan has performed her role in superb manner. It won't be exaggeration if it can be said that Divya has given her best performance in this film till date. She proves that she is an excellent actress who can fit and justify the classical role of the film PARINEETA as well the hot, sexy and glamorous role of Silk Smita. Tusshar Kapoor is just okay because he doesn't suit in such roles. Imraan Hashmi has justified his character in well manner and so is Naseer uddin Shah.

Script : Script is tight and screenplay and dialogues are good n terms of the demand of the movie.

Music : Music by Vishaal Shekhar is appropriate to the demand of the film and Ooo la la has already hit the market before its release.

Direction : The team of the writer Rajat Arora and the director Milan Luthria (who worked together in ONCE UPON A TIME IN MUMBAI) has done well. The director had done his job with perfection.

His direction is tight and gripping. He has given a speedy and good beginning. You keep hooked till the interval. Even after interval it is okay. Rests of the actors are also okay.

Plus Points : Vidya Balan's superb performance; Tight Script (according to the requirement).

Minus Points : Not for family; double meaning dialogues
