Rating: 2.5/5

One-line Review: Lali, Pinky and KD's voyage to Mauritius to meet their lusty motives in sexy Ahana.

Positive Points: Evergreen star cast and Chartbuster Party tracks

Negative Points: Poor direction and mindless plot

Plot: Lali (Anupam Kher), KD (Annu Kapoor) and Pinky (Piyush Mishra) are three oldies who are young at heart. With no excitement left in their life, they try to have some "fun" eyeing on the ladies more than half of their age. They are unable to satisfy their lust in Delhi fearing the tag of "tharki buddhas". Therefore, they head to the exotic beaches of Mauritius where they meet Ahana (Lisa Haydon).

Ahana rents them a room at her beach-side villa and instantly befriends them with her cool attitude. Soon, she gets heartbroken and is about to commit suicide. But then she finds the reason to live in her obsession for Bollywood action hero Akshay Kumar. In order to impress her and get her in bed, all three old man get in the competition by using Akshay Kumar's mania by promising her a photo and dinner with him.

Direction and Other Technical Aspects: Expectations from 'Tere Bin Laden' director Abhishek Sharma sinks with 'The Shaukeens'. Also, the fault lies in the script written by Tigmanshu Dhulia, which is not able to build up the climax. Still, he earns "likes" for the tongue-in cheek dialogues.

Performances: 'The Shaukeens' earn points for its star-cast selection. To start with the ace actors-

Anupam Kher characterization of 'Lali', a Connaught Place shoe shop owner was fantastic. He perfectly portrayed an ignored husband.

Piyush Mishra as widower 'Pinky' is an illiterate merchant fondly called as "Catch Masala King". He makes you giggle getting bullied by his friends and also with his act of buying "Sheelajit" (Viagra).

Annu Kapoor as "bachelor-buddha" 'KD' is the master of the trio team. He always plunges the naughty thoughts in his friends mind assuring them his so-called "200% Guarantee".

Lisa Haydon is fresh air of the film. She plays free-spirited fashion designer Ahana, who is quite creative in recycling old stuff as she makes frog's eye pendant necklace. Her mood depends on the number of likes and comments she gets on Facebook.

Akshay Kumar plays himself but as an arrogant alcoholic actor, who is thriving for a National Award.

Music: "Meherbani" is a soulful romantic track sung by Jubin Nautiyal. "Aashiq Mizaaj" is a playful track composed by Hard Kaur. "Lonely" and "Ishq Kutta Hai" remain limited being an average number. "Manali Trance" and "Alcoholic" composed by Yo Yo Honey Singh are perfect party tuners which will find its way to DJs playlist.

Final Verdict: Considering the scope of "Oldies getting Naughty" subject, makers of 'The Shaukeens' would have explored it in much better way. But sadly, the humour lasted only till few scenes, as nothing much was actually happening in the film. Hence, it is proved once again that classics should be better left untouched!
