A lot was expected from superstar Sanjay Dutt ’s comeback film Bhoomi . However, all expectations crashed when the film opened to a dismal box office response and turned out to be a disaster for all the stakeholders involved. If you remember Omung Kumar , the director of the revenge-drama film, had announced his next directorial venture with Sanjay Dutt soon after completing Bhoomi . Titled The Good Maharaja, the film was a biopic and the makers had even launched the first official poster of the film. However, the latest we hear that Sanjay Dutt has opted out of the project for reasons best known to him.

The Good Maharaja is based on the life and times of Nawanagar ruler Maharaja Jam Sahib Digvijaysinhji Ranjitsinhji during the British rule. In the first poster of the film, Sanjay Dutt was seen in a royal avatar. But after the failure of Bhoomi , the actor seems to be in no mood to join hands with Omung Kumar again.

Some reports suggest that Sanjay is currently focusing on Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster 3 which has just wrapped up its first schedule in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. After completing Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster 3 , the actor might begin shooting for Sadak 2. Talking about the film, producer Mukesh Bhatt says, "Sadak is the story of the same man, but 25 years later. The reason I think this should've been his comeback film is that Sadak was a cult film and Sanjay became a superstar after it. The script is almost ready and we plan to roll by the end of this year or early next year."

We have to wait for an official announcement to know whether Sanjay is still part of The Good Maharaja or not.
