Rip! Tamil Actor And Comedian RS Shivaji Passes Away

At the age of 66, renowned Tamil actor RS Shivaji passed away. He apparently passed away on Saturday, September 2, following a cardiac arrest. The news of the actor's passing has been confirmed by a Facebook post on his official account. He is well-known for playing comedic roles in Tamil film.

“My Appa RS Shivaji had a cardiac arrest and has passed away suddenly. Appa’s body is at Narayani Apartments, Kamaraj Salai, RA Puram, Chennai 28. Thank you, everyone, for all your support at this hour,” the Facebook post from his handle read. On hearing of Sivaji's passing, several productions, including Sun Pictures and Lyca Productions, paid tribute to him.

RS Shivaji is Santhana Bharathi's brother and the son of actor and producer MR Santhanam. He began his acting career in the 1980s and spent more than four years of his career working in the movie business. ‘Sathya’, ‘Apoorva Sagodharangal’, ‘Michael Madana Kama Rajan’, ‘Anbe Sivam’, ‘Aayutha Ezhuthu’, ‘Soorarai Pottru’, ‘Kolamavu Kokila’, and ‘Gargi’ are a few of his well-known films.

RS Shivaji and Kamal Haasan's production company Raaj Kamal Films International have a close relationship. He was employed by the production company for numerous films. In numerous movies, including ‘Vikram’ (1986), ‘Sathya’, ‘Michael Madana Kama Rajan’, etc., Shivaji and Kamal worked together. His comedic line "Sir! Neenga Engeyo Poiteenga, Sir" from the Kamal Haasan-starring movie ‘Apoorva Sagodharargal’ is also well-known. Shivaji's acting abilities were complemented by his abilities as an assistant director, sound designer, and line producer for numerous Tamil movies.

In addition to comedy roles, he also portrayed supporting roles like dads in a number of big-budget movies. The crowd applauded him loudly for his performance in Sai Pallavi's ‘Gargi’. In ‘Kolamavu Kokila’, he also played Nayanthara's father and won over the hearts of the viewers. The last time we saw him was in Yogi Babu's ‘Lucky Man’, which came out last Friday.
