Mammootty, who is currently enjoying success with his new Malayalam film Kannur Squad, has officially revealed his next venture in which he would star. The film ‘Turbo’ appears to be an action flick, with the first look showcasing the actor's striking fist. The film, helmed by Pulimurugan filmmaker Vysakh, began filming today with a little ceremony.
Dulquer Salmaan's Wayfarer Productions will release the film, which will be the official fifth production endeavour from Mammootty's own production business, Mammootty Kampany. The film's producers have not released an official cast list; however, they have identified the main personnel in charge of production.
Midhun Manuel Thomas, who directed the 2020 Malayalam film ‘Anjaam Pathira’, wrote the script for the film. Justin Varghese, who previously worked with Mammootty on the film Christopher, will compose the soundtrack for the film. Shameer Muhammed, who is also working on the Ram Charan-Shankar feature ‘Game Changer’, will handle the film's editing. The film's visuals will be handled by cinematographer Vishnu Sarma.
The news of Turbo came after much discussion about how Vysakh and Midhun Manuel Thomas want to collaborate on a film. Aside from this film, Mammootty has been knocking it out of the park with his recent flicks, which are all unique.
In 2023, the actor appeared in three films: ‘Nanpakal’ ‘Nerathu’ ‘Mayakkam,’ directed by Lijo Jose Pellissery, Christopher, and Kannur Squad, the latter of which is currently showing in cinemas.
Furthermore, Mammootty will appear in the ‘Jeo Baby’ directed film Kaathal-The Core opposite Jyothika, who is making a long-awaited return to Malayalam cinema. The film is set to be released in theatres in December as part of the International Film Festival of Kerala.
Mammootty is also set to appear in the horror film ‘Bramayugam’ and the action-thriller ‘Bazooka’, as well as the Telugu film ‘Yatra 2’, in which he will reprise his role as former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy.
