Finally! Bharti Singh-Haarsh Limbachiyaa Gets Relief From 2020 Drug Case (Details Inside)

A special court recently granted relief to stand-up comedian Bharti Singh and her husband Haarsh Limbachiyaa following the rejection of the Narcotics Control Bureau's (NCB) request to rescind their bail in a narcotics case.

The NCB detained Bharti and Haarsh after discovering 86.5 grams of cannabis (ganja) in their residence. The magistrate's court granted them bail the following day on a bond of Rs 15,000 each. The NCB subsequently challenged the judgement.

Now, according to PTI, the court's last-week judgement dismissed the accusation that Bharti and Haarsh tampered with the administration or broke the bail conditions, which is a huge relief for the famous couple. The judge said that there had been no additional reason for the cancellation of bail.

The special court said, "Therefore, it is not the case that the prosecution was not given the opportunity to oppose the application but it is a fault on the part of the prosecution that they did not avail the opportunity to file reply….” According to the investigation, the comic actress's name came up while a drug dealer was being questioned by the NCB regarding Sushant Singh Rajput's death in June 2020.

After that, the NCB filed a motion with the sessions court, arguing that the bail was granted without the prosecution's input. The magistrate's order was deemed by the central agency to be 'perverse, illegal, and bad in law,' and as such, it should be revoked.

The special Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act court denied the revision application for technical reasons, and the agency then submitted a new application for the same issue. The Mumbai Sessions Court has not yet heard that application.
